Founder, Managing Director, & Principal Biostatistician

Mark Hensley

Mark has doctoral training in epidemiology from the University of Washington, and a master’s degree in cell and molecular biology from the University of Pennsylvania. He is intimately involved in all scientific strategy, statistical analysis, and scientific writing work on Hensley Biostats projects, and loves the stimulation of helping a team with scientific and statistical brainstorming and planning. Before founding Hensley Biostats, he worked as a biostatistician at a CRO providing statistical services to mid-size and large pharma and medtech companies, working with teams in support of clinical trials. Previous to that, he was a professor directing an undergraduate public health program in which he designed and taught all basic science and statistics courses, and oversaw student research projects.

Outside of his work on client projects, Mark is an accomplished classical pianist and piano teacher, an avid mountaineer, skier, and climber, and an aspiring writer of both fiction and nonfiction.

Mingdong Liu, PhD

Mingdong has a PhD in microbiology from the University of Kentucky and a masters in biostatistics from the University of Washington, as well as an earlier Chinese BM degree making him a practicing physician when he lived in China. He serves as one of the primary biostatisticians at Hensley Biostats, synthesizing his expertise in biostatistics, medicine, and basic science on design and analysis of client projects. He has earlier experience working as a biostatistician with a number of US biotech companies on next-gen sequencing, in-vitro diagnostics, biomarker analysis, and general clinical trial design. In his earlier medical career in China, he worked on transplant biology.

When he’s not working, Mingdong enjoys hiking, biking, and spending time with his family.
